January Birthday

Here is a little birthday card I made for a friend of ours who is currently deployed. He has missed his Anniversary, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and soon his birthday with his family. We are thankful for his service and understand all too well how it is to spend holidays away from each other. I am so happy that Todd was able to retire this past summer after serving 20 years in the Air Force.

Since it needed to be a "manly" card, I stayed away from my favorite...buttons and ribbon and went with one color. I finally used Ad Sense, a set I bought from a PTI forum member years ago! Hopefully, he doesn't find the flourish too "girly" since I felt like it needed something over on the right side to balance the sentiment sign.

New Challenge Card: Retro Sketches

I'm trying to increase my card blogging and have started to participate in some new challenges. This time I thought I would try my hand at a Retro Sketches challenge.

Here is my take on the challenge:

CAS-ual Friday Challenge 85

I thought I would play along this week with CAS-ual Friday's challenge. The challenge is to create a card that celebrates an accomplishment and features at least one circle. Here is my take:

Make it Monday- Take 2

I'm back again with another MIM challenge card this time using a different color scheme.

Rainbow-Scheme-3
I must say, this was my favorite color combination when I was deciding on which to use. Here is my card:

Make it Monday with Papertrey- Take 1

Here is the challenge from Papertrey for this week's Make it Monday #99- Repeats and Rainbows.

Rainbow-Scheme-6
I chose to make a card using the #6 color scheme. I've had the set Modern Basics since it was released and I am ashamed to admit that this was my first time using the set. I need to keep the set on my desk and play with it a bit more this week.

Thanks Mom!

My parents came to visit for 2 weeks over Christmas. Now, I know what most of you are thinking...how did we handle having them for so long? Fortunately, we all get along wonderfully. They love my husband as a son and the men did some outside projects while my mom and I baked up a storm in the kitchen. I wanted to thank them both for a great time and all of the little things they did for us while they were here. My mom cleaned up the kitchen every evening and even scrubbed all 3 of my bathrooms! Now, that is what I call a Christmas present.

So, I decided to break out Funky Florals, by Papertrey. A stamp set that is free when you spend $100 or more in an order by January 14th.
