Papertrey Blog Hop

I'm finally here to up-date the neglected blog! We have been in transition since this summer, moving from Spain to California. We are all settled in and I actually have a craft room all to myself so I hope to be updating a bit more frequently! On to the blog hop, Nichole challenged us to make a variety of holiday tags. Well, with the wonderful tag dies at Papertrey it is so easy to whip up a few unique tags for gifts (and it doesn't hurt to have all the design team samples and Papertrey forum members projects to get additional inspiration!). Here are my tags:

All supplies are Papertrey except for the Martha Stewart branch punch and striped frame on the first tag. and the strip of patterned paper on the second tag. Enjoy! I am off to look at everyone's wonderful creations.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Pallenge #9 Use Your Patterned Paper

Better late than never, right? Here is my contribution to the Papertrey Pals Pallenge #9 issued by Nadine. I actually made these cards a while back (notice the "happy easter") but never got around to posting them. I attend a CTMH scrap club once a month. The paper used on these cards are the scraps from club. All the stamps are Papertrey.

Pallenge #12 Christmas in (almost) July

Hi there! It is my turn to post a challenge over at the Papertrey PALs blog. Did you realize there are less than 6 months til Christmas??? Probably the last thing you want to think about are making your Christmas cards. I am getting ready to move from Spain to California this August and am worried with getting settled in and starting a new job my card making may be taking a back seat. So, while I sit here in my empty house (we have loaner furniture since our stuff was packed up earlier this month) with my limited craft supplies I have been cranking out Christmas cards with a couple of friends. Here is a sampling of what I have made.

This first card is a CASE of Betsy Veldman's card here. Scroll down to her last card on that post.

This next one is a CASE of Debbie Olson's card here.

Here is one that I came up with on my own:

And lastly, here is one using vintage ornaments. I CASEd from Dawn McVey's card here.

Go on over to the Papertrey PALs blog and play along!

Pallenge #11 Red, White, and Blue & Stars

Over at the Papertrey Pals blog Ingrid issued a patriotic challenge. We were to use red, white, and blue along with stars. My card is a bit different than the traditional colors only because most of my supplies are in a crate on a ship somewhere between Spain and California. We packed out our household goods on the 7th of this month. Luckily, I had kept vintage picnic to work on Thanksgiving cards so I had something to work with.

Here is my card. A bit simple. You can barely see it but I used the Picnic Plaid impression plate on the kraft cardstock:
Thanks for stopping by! It is my turn to issue the next challenge tomorrow.

Papertrey PALS- Challenge #8

I apologize for being such a terrible group member but I did get around to making a card for the latest "pallenge" for the Papertrey Pals. Diane issued a challenge to make a summer themed project and/or a project using bright summery colors. The idea for this card came while I was walking the dog. I must admit that the card looked better in my head than I translated it onto paper. I used way to many stamp sets (6) to create this one-layer card!

I've been making other cards but they have been complete copies or near copies to the design team that I haven't felt right posting them. Here's hoping I get around to making more original cards...

Supplies:
Paper- Stampers Select White (PTI)
Ink- Spring Rain, Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Black (PTI)
Stamps- Scattered Showers, Bird Watching, Beautiful Blooms II, Fillable Frames #1 & #3, For the Graduate (PTI)
Misc- Fillable Frames #1 die, orange zest ribbon

Very belated post

Sorry for the absence but I spent the entire month of March in the states. I went back for my dissertation defense in Colorado that was on March 10th (which went great and I am finally finished with my PhD in Nursing Education!) and then stayed in Florida visiting with family and friends until the beginning of April. I meant to bring some pics to update the blog with but of course I forgot them. I also hope to get caught up on the Papertrey PALs challenges. Sorry guys!

Here is the card I made for the St. Patrick's Day swap. Of course, I made it just before Papertrey released that adorable $5 St. Patty's stamp set but I worked with what I had.

Supplies:
Paper: white and new leaf (PTI)
Ink: new leaf and black (PTI)
Stamps: Text style and limitless labels (PTI), Studio G $1 stamps from Michaels
Misc: new leaf twill, nestabilities, circle punches

Day 13 Papertrey Contest

We are down to the last days of the Papertrey anniversary celebrations. The latest contest on Nichole's blog is to design a floral embellishment, then create a card using one and an acetate sheet of them to share. Ever since Nichole announced that PTI would be making felt in the perfect match colors I have been in heaven. So, I got out the stash of felt I bought/acquired long ago and made some embellies. I would much rather have 100% wool felt but this will do until the PTI felt is available.

Supplies:
Stamps- Signature greetings (PTI)
Paper- white, lemon tart (PTI), Apricot Appeal (SU)
Ink- dark chocolate (PTI)
Misc- swiss dots embossing folder, scor pal, cuttlebug and nestabilities flower dies, felt, buttons, twine

Papertrey PALS- Challenge #2 a "ValenPallenge"

Liz D. issued a challenge to the Papertrey Pals to create a Valentine project with stitching of some kind. Well, I had already made all of my Valentine's Day cards so I decided to make my parents anniversary card. Close enough to a Valentine, I think. I LOVE my little Janome Sew Mini. I have no sewing skills whatsoever but this little machine is so easy to use it makes me look like I know what I am doing.

Hope everyone is having a great Valentine weekend! I can't believe the Papertrey anniversary is almost over. My order list is WAY too long! I'll be up at 6am to place my order (midnight Papertrey time).

Supplies:
Stamps- Seasons of Love (Waltzingmouse), Fancy Flourishes, Damask Designs (PTI)
Paper- Rustic white, dark chocolate, ocean tides, melon berry (PTI)
Ink- dark chocolate, ocean tides (PTI), versamark
Misc- ocean tides button, twine, sewing machine, apron lace border punch

Day 8 Papertrey Paint by Number Sketch

Today Nichole announced that Papertrey will be selling acrylic paints in all of the perfect match colors soon. I haven't played with acrylic paint and stamping before. I definitely see how it would be great for covering chipboard and I am sure the PTI design team will give me plenty of excuses to buy it in the months to come! Here is the challenge sketch:

Since my username is TammyRN I was to use the colors listed above. I'm not sure I like spring rain and aqua mist together but here goes...

Emboss Resist- Another Papertrey Challenge

Here is my attempt at the emboss resist challenge issued by Nichole. Using white card stock I stamped the hearts from Background Basics Hearts and embossed the sentiment with clear powder (if I were to do it over again I would have used white to make it stand out better). Then I sponged the card stock with sweet blush, hibiscus burst and finally raspberry fizz. Good luck to everyone!

Stamps-  Heart Prints, Background Basics: Hearts (PTI)
Paper- Kraft, white, hibiscus burst, raspberry fizz (PTI)
Ink- Versamark, fresh snow, sweet blush, hibiscus burst, raspberry fizz (PTI)

Papertrey Day 2 Challenge

One of the first things I did this morning after waking up was go to the computer and see what was new on Nichole's blog regarding Papertrey Ink's Anniversary. A challenge was issued and below is my take. I went ahead and made 2 cards using the same layout and colors. I wasn't very original since I used the same color scheme as yesterday's card. I decided to use the digital image from Melissa. I LOVE her stamps and own nearly every set she has designed. Good luck to all the players!

I went with 3 candles (firecrackers) from the Let Freedom Ring set to represent 3 wonderful years for PTI. I was also trying for the messy sewing look. It is a mess alright but it looks intentionally messy. I can't seem to achieve the look I want. Practice makes perfect (or messy) I suppose.

Supplies:
Stamps: Let Freedom Ring (PTI) & Melissa Bickford's digital stamp
Paper- white and ripe avocado, bitty dots PP (PTI)
Ink- pure poppy, summer sunrise, ripe avocado
Misc- sewing machine, nestabilities, copics (Y35, R27, G99)

Papertrey PALS- Challenge #1

We were issued our first challenge by Ted last week to incorporate P A L into our project in a creative way. Well, I've never claimed to be the most creative person so I took the simple route to incorporating PAL: P - pure Poppy, A- ripe Avocado, and L- Lemon tart. I haven't had much time to be crafty lately. I've been finishing up my dissertation. I finally submitted it to my chair this weekend! So, until I hear back from her about edits or revisions I have free, no guilt craft time on my hands. I've been wanting to get Through the Trees inky so that is what I used. Now my plate is clear to join in on ALL of the Papertrey anniversary challenges. Have a great Monday everyone!

Supplies:
Stamps- Through the Trees (PTI)
Paper- Kraft, Lemon Tart, Pure Poppy (PTI)
Ink- Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate, Pure Poppy (PTI)
Misc- Ripe Avocado button, brown DMC floss, corner rounder

PTI Valentine Swap Card

Here is the card I made for my Valentine swap partner (KimH). The layout design came from this card by Debbie Olson. I played around with a couple color combos but in the end I liked the sweet blush with scarlet jewel.

Supplies:
Stamps- Simple Valentine & Background Basics:Hearts (PTI)
Paper- White, Sweet Blush, Scarlet Jewel (PTI)
Ink- Fresh snow, Sweet Blush, Scarlet Jewel (PTI)
Misc- scallop emboss punch (EK success), scarlet jewel bitty dot ribbon

Now to go check all of the blogs I have been neglecting for the last few days. On Sunday my husband went snowshoeing in the Sierra Nevada and took a 20 ft tumble off a cliff. Thankfully, he is only badly banged up with no serious injury or broken bones but I have been playing nursemaid to him, keeping him medicated and trying to keep him still. He is going stir crazy in the house and I am running out of creative ways to keep him immobile.

Wishing for Spring

Here is a spring flower for those of you wishing for warmer weather. I guess I can't complain too much here in southern Spain since the high has been in the 50's but the rain is so gloomy. I am ready to have a warm sunny day.

I am happy to report that my Papertrey order has been submitted and now I can wait "patiently" for that box of goodies to arrive. The first set to see ink will be Through the Trees. I am in love with that set!

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!

Supplies:
Stamps: In Bloom, Signature Greetings (PTI)
Paper: Rustic cream, Bitty Box (PTI)

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #21

Hello stamping friends! While I have been impatiently waiting for the latest post from Nichole about the new releases I decided to participate in Dawn's color challenge

The colors were so soft that they were screaming out "baby card" to me. However, I would really like to wait until I get my hands on the latest PTI baby stamps to make another baby card. The other idea that came to mind was comfort. I woke up this morning to the news about the earthquake in Haiti and can only imagine the pain and hurting going on over there. So I reached for my Everyday Blessings stamp set to make this card.

Supplies:
Stamps- Very Vintage Labels No. 5 (Waltzingmouse), Everyday Blessings, Giga Guidelines, & Guidelines Two (PTI)
Paper- Vintage cream, dark chocolate, lemon tart, (PTI)
Ink- Dark chocolate, lemon tart, aqua mist (PTI)
Misc- aqua mist satin ribbon and buttons, nestabilities Label 5

Mojo Monday Challenge 120

I want to first thank all of the wonderful people from the PTI forum who left comments on my blog post yesterday. I never realized how amazing it would feel to know that someone cared enough to not only stop by and take a peek but leave a comment as well. And I was just over the moon that some of you chose to follow me! I must admit, I have been known to neglect leaving comments on blogs, even ones I have marked in my Google Reader. After knowing how great it feels I will do a much better job in the future.

Today I have a card for the Mojo Monday Challenge. I was trying to make it work as a Valentine for my husband but I think I went a little to far with the rhinestones :) Oh well, I still have some time to figure it out.

Supplies:
Stamps- Heart Prints & Guidelines Two (PTI), Seasons of Love (Waltzingmouse)
Paper- White, black, pure poppy (PTI)
Ink- black (memento), pure poppy (PTI)
Misc- pure poppy button, black satin ribbon, heart punch (PTI), scallop punch, swiss dot and textile embossing folders, clear rhinestones

Welcome to My Blog

I am a stalker of the Papertrey Ink forums. I tend to be more of a lurker than poster although I have been trying to remedy that. There has been much talk on the forums about starting a blog for the new year. I have been hesitant like many of the other forum members. What would I say? Would anyone read or like me? Are my cards good enough? All of these thoughts have been running through my head. Well, I decided to start a blog for the heck of it. Who knows how often I will post or what in the world I will have to say. To start this post I am including a card I made a while back that isn't completely copied. I am the queen of CASE-ing. Hopefully starting this blog will slowly change that. Excuse my poor photo skills. I haven't quite perfected the picture taking! If anyone is viewing, I hope you enjoy...

Supplies: All PTI unless otherwise stated

Stamps: Journaling Lines, Friends 'Til the End
Paper: White, Melon Berry, Aqua Mist, SU! Really Rust (Terracota wasn't out yet)
Ink: Aqua Mist (old formula that you can barely see), Smokey Shadow, SU! Really Rust
